Manages, plans, and evaluates the daily operation, staff and quality control of the Consolidated Transfer Center. Oversees patient transfer services from other facilities, including physician access to these services. Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures. Builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders in order to facilitate a common vision for patient movement and placement within the health system. Ensures department’s compliance with Hospital, regulatory agencies and other statutory rules and requirements.
Develops and manages the operations of the department. Monitors performance, identifies areas of opportunity and initiates changes to increase productivity/maximize efficiencies of systems.
Optimizes workflows and processes in order to achieve measured standards and continuously improve staff, system performance and quality.
Collaborates with management in program development, problem resolution, and strategic planning/implementation.
Collaborates with local sites to monitor bed assignments and transfer processes throughout the health system to ensure clinical appropriateness of placement.
Reviews lost opportunities for transfer into the health system. Makes recommendations to prevent future missed opportunities.
Selects, develops, manages and evaluates direct reports.
Promotes staff development and education. Provides opportunity for formal and informal education to promote ongoing staff competency. Sets standards for performance and ensures timely completion of performance appraisals.
Promotes customer satisfaction between Consolidated Transfer Center, physicians and internal and external customers.
Ensures compliance with established policies and procedures as they apply to the coordination of patient referral and transport.
Works across multi discipline service lines to optimize and standardize operational, financial and clinical workflows, information management and critical time sensitive clinical timelines to reduce variation, and improve patient outcomes.
Works with OCIO and other IT teams to leverage technology to improve information sharing and efficient and effective movement of key patient and operational information across the enterprise.
Performs related duties, as required. *ADA Essential Functions
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, required. Master’s Degree, preferred.
Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
Successful completion of Avesta, Select Advantage 911 Dispatch and CritiCall, prior to hire.
Minimum of five (5) years nursing experience, required. Critical care, ED/EMS experience, preferred. Call center management and use of technology and data to optimize user and staff experience, preferred.
Knowledge of Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) regulations pertaining to Consolidated Transfer Center requests.
Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, conflict management and problem solving skills, required. Excellent verbal, written, public speaking, presentation and interpersonal communications skills, required.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, and health system clinical applications, required.
