Job Description

  1. Receives and processes human milk and related supplies and equipment according to establishedpolicies and procedures.
  • Confirms quantity and inspects items toensure adherence to quality and infection control guidelines.Reports any damage, spoilage or discrepancies to supervisor.

  • Labels, dates and stores items inappropriate refrigerators, freezers, or dry storage areas according toestablished policies and procedures.

  • Rotates inventory andmaintains proper storage temperatures and timeframes. Discardsexpired items, as required.

  • Monitors and maintains milk nutrition inventory par levels.Keeps supervisor informed of par levels and supply needs.

  • Maintains cleanliness of milk nutrition refrigerators, freezers, dry storageareasand related supplies and equipment.

  1. Receives and processes physician orders for infantfeedings.
  • Identifies, calculates, measures and prepares milkfollowing to established policies, procedures, and sanitation guidelines.

  • Adds fortifiers, liquid protein, and/or other nutritionaladditives to milk, as directed by physician orders.

  • Refers to appropriate clinical team members forclarification, as needed.

  • Delivers prepared milk to appropriate units for scheduledinfant feedings.

  1. Enters all milk nutrition activitiesin department computer system and completes related paperwork.

  2. Performsrelated duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma orequivalent, required.

  • Successful completion ofhospital training program within normal probationary period, required.

  • Minimum of one (1) year relatedfood service or inventory experience in a healthcare setting, required.

  • Demonstrated competencyin basic mathematics andinventory flow, required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and followinstructions verbally and in writing.
