Protects and safeguards hospital property, assets, personnel, patients and visitors to promote safety and order. Patrols and monitors premises and personnel to deter illegal and inappropriate actions observing signs of crime, fire or disorder and takes action to ensure a safe and secure environment.
Patrols and monitors buildings and grounds to protect life and property and to prevent fire, thefts, vandalism, and illegal entry.
Monitors and authorizes entrance and departure of employees, visitors and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
Controls and regulates pedestrian and vehicular traffic in a safe, orderly and respectful manner.
Initiates all incident reports and follow-up reports as required. Prepares all appropriate documents in a factual, accurate, legible and timely manner.
Operates and maintains facility vehicles in accordance with regulatory compliance and policies.
Operates and maintains all security and facility equipment in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines and facility policies.
Writes incident reports in accordance with policies and procedures to document events.
Conducts package inspections to ensure safety and minimize theft.
Restrains patients and unruly persons, on the hospital grounds and in buildings in a manner that respects the patients’ rights, confidentiality, dignity, privacy and individuality.
Assists security personnel in the performance of their duties, through the use of physical force, when required.
Reports all fire hazards and safety violations.
Escorts Hospital personnel, as required.
Comprehends and enforces all hospital & Security Department policies/procedures.
Performs related duties, as required.
High School Diploma or GED, required.
Valid NYS Security Guard License, required.
ORActive New York Police Officer, required.
Valid NYS Drivers License, required.
ORValid NYS CDL Permit (Class B-with Passenger Certification valid for air brakes) within six (6) months of employment, required based on operational needs of a specific Business Unit, required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent certification within orientation period, required.
Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Security Officer, preferred.
Basic computer skills/knowledge.
