Explains procedure in layman terms to relieve patientof pretesting anxiety.
Administersoral contrast material for abdominal scans.
Sets-up equipment to administer the procedure.
Ensures patient is screened according to protocol, andassures consent for the procedure has been obtained, when necessary.
Places patient on the exam table and positions withinthe gantry.
Keys in patient history data and other pertinentinformation obtained from a requisition including anatomical area ofinterest, slice thickness and pulse sequences.
Calculates the number of scans to be obtained based onpatient size and operates the equipment ensuring the required images wereobtained as ordered by the Radiologist.
Contacts Radiologist to review and ascertain whetheradditional scanning is required. Transmits cases to NSLIJHS InternalNighthawk services as well as External Nighthawk vendor for interpretationand final reads.
Operates equipment for the transfer of computed imagesto film and/or PACS system.
Assists with administration of I.V. contrast.
Maintains observation of the patient during the entireexamination.
Recognizes and reports to the physician, changes in thepatient’s condition and/or motorabnormality complaints by the patient including: fainting,discoloration, etc.
Operates Radiology Information System (RIS) to assureprocedures are ordered correctly and information is accurate.
Completes all necessary steps in PACS which allowsRadiologists to review and read procedures.
Performs related duties, as required.

Graduateof an accredited Radiologic Technology Program, required.
New York State Department of Healthlicensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
AmericanRegistry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Registered Technologist (R.T.),required and registration in Computed Tomography (CT) required within eighteen (18) monthsof entry date into position, required
Previousexperience as a Radiology Technologist, required. PreviousCT experience, preferred.
