Job Category Laboratory
Oversees and is responsible for the development and operations of Clinical Laboratories. Directs, plans, organizes and evaluates the administrative near and long-term operational goals and objectives in compliance with applicable regulatory standards and internal policies.
Develops and monitors strategic operating goals and objectives; and reports operational performance, justification and/or corrective action.
Develops and oversees financial management including budget, salary, capital, and revenue projections.
Oversees and evaluates quality management and performance improvement programs across all clinical and administrative disciplines and ensures related policies and procedures are maintained, communicated and implemented.
Oversees research and development of new test procedures and methodologies.
Oversees collaboration with the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) and seeks to enhance information systems, as necessary.
Reviews and approves outbound reports and documents concerning the Laboratory including, but not limited to, certificate of need (CON) submissions, financial reports, testing statistics and management reports.
Develops, manages and evaluates direct reports; and oversees the development, management and evaluation of indirect reports.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory standards including but not limited to: NYSDOH, CAP, OSHA, FDA, TJC, EPA, governing the Clinical Lab.
Performs related duties as required.
• Bachelor’s Degree, required. Master’s Degree, preferred.
• Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or Cytotechnologist, required.
• Minimum of seven (7) years laboratory experience, including six (6) years previous supervisory experience, required.
